Test Options for Social Anxiety
If you’ve landed on this page, you’re looking for a social anxiety test. In this post, I’m going to go over everything there is know about taking a social anxiety test and where to find the best ones.
The truth is that taking an online test is a good starting point, but if you are really concerned about having social anxiety, talking to your doctor or a mental health professional is in order.
Okay with that being said, let’s consider what you might want to know about taking a social anxiety test.
What Is Social Anxiety/Social Anxiety Disorder?
First things first: what exactly is social anxiety or social anxiety disorder?
Social anxiety disorder is an illness that is diagnosed by a mental health professional such as a psychologist or psychiatrist. It’s a severe form of social anxiety that requires therapy or medication.
If you would like to know more about how social anxiety disorder is diagnosed, I have a whole post about the criteria that are used to diagnose it. So I won’t go into that here.
In general, social anxiety involves a fear of being embarrassed in front of others that leads to avoidance or severe anxiety symptoms in social or performance situations.
For example, a person with social anxiety disorder might experience shortness of breath, a racing heart, sweating, shaking, and nausea when faced with a feared situation.
How Do You Know If You’ve Got Social Anxiety?
You might know that something isn’t right about how you feel in social or performance situations, but how do you know if it’s social anxiety?
The best thing really is to start by taking one of the tests that I describe below. That will give you an idea of whether your symptoms line up.
I’ve also listed at the bottom of this post some of the typical questions that you will see on a social anxiety test. Have a read through and see if they sound like you or if you would answer yes.
How Bad Is My Social Anxiety?
You might also know that you have social anxiety but not be sure if it’s bad enough to warrant talking to a doctor about it.
Social anxiety that interferes with your daily life, that prevents you from having friendships or relationships, or that holds you back at school or work, is generally serious enough to get help for.
How bad it is can also depend on the severity of your symptoms. If you just feel nervous in social or performance situations, you might have mild anxiety.
But if you dread them and avoid them at all costs, and have anxiety attacks when forced to face them, then you probably have bad social anxiety.

What About a Quiz?
What’s the difference between taking a quiz or test for social anxiety? Quizzes are generally shorter or more light-hearted. They usually won’t be based on any research-backed instruments. But sometimes a quiz can be just as good as a test. It’s really just language after all.

Social Anxiety Questionnaire
What about a social anxiety questionnaire, should you take one of those? Questionnaires are generally longer and ask about a wider variety of symptoms or situations.
The most well-known one is the Liebowitz scale. Questionnaires are usually used by researchers to get a baseline score for study participants and then see if a treatment works or doesn’t work by comparing to their final score.
Social Anxiety Test for Teenagers
Can teenagers take the same quizzes, tests, or questionnaires as adults? Generally, the answer is yes. Most of these instruments will ask about school or work, so they are geared to be answered by students. However, younger children would not be advised to take these tests.

Finally, I thought I’d pull together a sample of questions you might see on a social anxiety test. Have a look through these questions and you should start to get a good idea of whether they apply to you.

I have all those issues that u have listed above only letting 6..7 issues….I already knew it that I have social anxiety of high level ..I came to know about my social anxiety last year ..I m 21 now ..I always have these issues but never knew that .its called social anxiety…but now it has become worse..I feared alot of going anywhere ..or eat anything in front of others..I want to do many things , but I can’t..I m really depressed,, I can’t tell my parents all this ..I think they would not understand my problm and will take it in a normal way.please help me.

I’m really sorry to hear you are feeling this way. I’d suggest if you can to find someone who you trust that you can talk to (other than your parents) and share how you are feeling. If there is nobody, then perhaps try calling a telephone helpline if you are really feeling down. It sounds like therapy or medication might help if you haven’t already been to see a therapist or doctor.
